The health guarantee I offer buyers would include the following:

  • I warrant that the puppy is free of these inheritable conditions for a period of 1-2 years after purchase.
  • If the puppy is diagnosed with one of these genetic issues during that time frame, I offer options like a full replacement puppy, a refund, or reimbursement of reasonable veterinary costs related to treatment.
  • This gives buyers peace of mind knowing they are getting a healthy, genetically sound puppy.
  1. Congenital Defects:
  • In addition to genetic conditions, I also guarantee the puppy is free of any congenital defects at the time of sale.
  • This includes issues with the puppy’s vital organs like the heart, liver, or kidneys.
  • This congenital defect guarantee is generally valid for the first 12-24 months of the puppy’s life.
  • If a serious congenital issue is discovered during this period, I will work with the buyer on an appropriate resolution, whether that’s a replacement, refund, or reimbursement.
  1. Veterinary Examination:
  • It’s important to me that the buyer has the puppy examined by their own licensed veterinarian shortly after taking the puppy home.
  • This allows the vet to conduct a full health assessment and identify any immediate concerns.
  • Buyers must schedule this exam within 72 hours of the puppy’s arrival.
  • If the vet finds major issues, the buyer has the option to return the puppy for a full refund or exchange.
  1. Vaccinations and Deworming:
  • Prior to the puppy going home, I ensure it has received all age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming treatments.

  • If the puppy is examined by the buyer’s veterinarian within 72 hours of delivery and found to have a serious health issue or congenital defect, the buyer has the option to return the puppy for a full refund or request an exchange for another puppy.

  • If the puppy is diagnosed with one of the covered genetic disorders (like intervertebral disk disease, hip/elbow dysplasia, or von Willebrand’s disease) within the 1-2 year warranty period, the buyer can choose a replacement puppy, a refund, or reimbursement of reasonable vet costs.

  • I understand that sometimes a puppy may not be the right fit, even if there are no health issues. In these cases, I allow buyers to return the puppy within 10 days for a full refund, as long as the puppy is in good health.

How To Request A Refund

The process for a buyer to obtain a refund from me in the case of an issue with a puppy is straightforward and transparent. Here are the key steps:

    • The buyer must notify me in writing (email or letter) within the specified time frame outlined in the health guarantee. This is typically within 72 hours for immediate concerns, or within the 1-2 year warranty period for genetic/congenital issues.
    • In the notification, the buyer should provide details about the problem, including any veterinary diagnosis or recommendations.
  2. Provide Veterinary Documentation:

    • The buyer must submit copies of the puppy’s veterinary records, including the initial examination done within 72 hours of receiving the puppy.
    • For genetic/congenital issues, the buyer will need to provide the veterinary report detailing the diagnosis and recommended treatment.
  3. Schedule a Veterinary Examination (if requested):

    • In some cases, I may request that the buyer take the puppy to a veterinarian of my choice for an independent evaluation.
    • I cover the cost of this additional exam as part of the refund/exchange process.
  4. Review and Approval:

    • Upon receiving the necessary documentation, I will review the case to verify that it meets the criteria outlined in the health guarantee.
    • If approved, I will work with the buyer to determine the best resolution, whether that’s a full refund, replacement puppy, or reimbursement of vet expenses.
  5. Refund Processing:

    • For approved refund requests, I will issue the full purchase price of the puppy back to the buyer within 14 business days.
    • I can provide the refund via the original payment method or through an alternative method if requested.
